The work of the woman is one of the thorny issues that are still being discussed; people differ in their opinions on this issue. Some believe that the work of a woman is one of the necessary things in the life of every woman like men; both of them have the right to work and be independent without discrimination or racism. However, others completely believe that women's work is unnecessary and that the women's real role lies in the home and raising children.


Throughout the ages and times, women have suffered from injustice, violence, and ignorance because of reactionary customs and traditions that restricted women's freedom and buried their dreams. The role of the women was limited to the house and housework, raising children, and serving the husband.


 Some people believed that it was not necessary for women to work, and that women’s work was only prestige and luxury, so some families and husbands prevented their wives and daughters from working. Thus, they suppressed women’s freedom and stood in front of achieving their goals and dreams. There were some customs and traditions that necessitated the girl’s sitting at home and not educating her.


Why Do Some Men Refuse Women's Work?

People used to believe that teaching a girl to cook, clean, and sew is more beneficial for her than going to school and learning sciences and languages, believing that educating a woman is not necessary. Therefore, this was a clear reason for early marriage.

Some people also believe that the woman's work may affect her duties towards her husband, children, and home, so some people reject women's work because they believe that the home should be a priority for the wife. In addition, others believe that work is capable of changing the nature of women; women are delicate and sensitive by nature, while work may cause a major change in the nature of women, making them strong and practical.


Moreover, it may make them violent in dealing with others often. Therefore, some husbands see that the wife who does not work is characterized by femininity, tenderness, and softness compared to the woman who works, who may become violent because of the pressures of work.


Furthermore, some men may refuse women to work because of excessive fear or jealousy of promiscuity, so some husbands refuse women to go to work because of their excessive jealousy of dealing with other men in the work environment, believing that by doing so they preserve the woman and her femininity from others.


Now women have an effective role in society that cannot be denied; they are an essential element in society and have rights to work and participate in practical life.


On the other hand, some people believe that women's work may be necessary and important; we now see some families supported by women; we often see women working and taking responsibility for the house and children. Women also have the right to the independence and financial security, so work achieves sufficiency and financial security that guarantees stability.


In addition, financial independence makes her happy in her life; she is not forced to continue marrying someone who insults or abuses her only because she does not have a source of money through which she can live a decent life, so work guarantees her a decent life and secures to her a decent future.


The role of women in society contributes a lot to the advancement of society and the economy of the state significantly; her work helps a lot in increasing the standard of living for the family and increasing income, which guarantees a decent life. Women also have the right to build their future and achieve their goals in practical life.

The role of women is never less than the role of men in society. Rather, there are women who have a great vision, culture, and skills that may help a lot in their practical life. There are many women throughout history who struggled and stood against the reactionary customs and traditions that advocated against women's work, so the world was able to benefit from their skills in all fields such as physics, chemistry, literature and medicine.
